A lightweight leave-on spot cream for congested, blemish-prone skin.

Sponge-derived micro spicules gently exfoliate the surface as you press the cream in. Laboratory research on sponge spicules suggests they may also help other ingredients absorb better — but that work used a different sponge species on animal and lab-grown skin, so we describe the mechanism and skip the numbers.

2% azelaic acid and 5% niacinamide work on the look of post-blemish marks and uneven tone, while tea tree, zinc PCA and madecassoside keep things calm.

Use it on individual spots or across a small congested area — it is a targeted treatment, not an all-over one. The texture is light, fast absorbing and never greasy.

Micro spicules at 3,000 ppm — that is 0.3% — at a stated 80 to 300 microns. More disclosure than most of the category offers, and we would rather give you the conversion than let the bigger number do the work.

Press gently until absorbed. A light tingle is normal with a spicule formula; burning is a signal to rinse off and stop.

Follow with the rest of your routine, and wear sunscreen every morning.

Not suitable for: Rosacea, active eczema, a compromised skin barrier, very sensitive or reactive skin, actively inflamed spots, or broken skin. Patch test first.

Please note: Not vegan — the micro spicules come from sponge, and sponges are animals. Not fragrance-free — contains Limonene and other fragrance components, partly naturally from the tea tree.

Pairs well with: Hydrating and barrier layers — hyaluronic acid, panthenol, ceramides and centella. They keep skin comfortable while the azelaic and salicylic acids do the decongesting.

Compatible with: Niacinamide (already in the formula), peptides, hyaluronic acid, ceramides and PDRN at any time. Vitamin C is fine in the opposite slot of the day rather than layered on top.

Avoid using with: Additional exfoliating acids or a retinoid in the same routine while you are settling in. The formula already carries 2% azelaic acid and salicylic acid, and the spicules add their own mild resurfacing.

Layering tip: Apply to dry skin straight after toner, before any cream. Damp skin plus spicules is a shortcut to irritation.

Pro Tip: Treat the tingle as the signal to slow down, not speed up. Two or three nights a week for the first fortnight, then build. If you use a retinal at night, alternate — this on one night, retinal the next.
