Best for: Skin showing rough texture, visible pores, dullness and early loss of firmness that wants retinal renewal in a cushioned gel-cream rather than a drying serum.
Step: Step 6 – Serum / Ampoule
Routine: PM (or AM every other day, always with SPF)
High-level description: A gel-cream retinal treatment with 200ppm retinal, caffeine, ectoin, bakuchiol and a nine-peptide complex to refine texture and the look of pores, while a ceramide-cholesterol barrier blend keeps skin comfortable.

What it is

A leave-on gel-cream retinal treatment, used neat rather than mixed into anything.

Retinal at 200ppm does the renewal work, caffeine targets the look of puffiness and dullness, and ectoin buffers against dryness.

Ceramide NP, cholesterol, glycosphingolipids and macadamia oil form a barrier blend that keeps the retinal comfortable, with nine peptides including Copper Tripeptide-1.

Apply across the whole face or only where you need it. The texture is a light gel-cream, never greasy.

Why we love it
  • 200ppm retinal is a real, working dose in a texture that behaves like a comfort cream rather than a treatment.
  • Caffeine and ectoin are an unusual pairing to find alongside retinal, and they are what stop it feeling like a chore.
  • A full barrier blend — Ceramide NP, cholesterol, glycosphingolipids and macadamia oil — sits in the same bottle as the active.
  • Nine peptides, including Copper Tripeptide-1, support firmness alongside the retinal renewal.
  • Curated pick: One of the gentlest ways we know to start a retinal — and the sibling to the Vitamin C Booster Shot if you want the pair.
Key Ingredients & Benefits
  • Retinal (200 ppm) – Vitamin A renewal that helps smooth rough texture and refine the look of pores.
  • Caffeine – Helps skin look more awake and less puffy, particularly first thing.
  • Ectoin – A protective molecule that helps skin hold onto moisture while the retinal works.
  • Bakuchiol – A plant-derived smoothing partner that supports firmness alongside the retinal.
  • Ceramide NP, Cholesterol & Glycosphingolipids – A barrier blend that keeps skin comfortable through a retinal routine.
  • Nine-Peptide Complex – Including Copper Tripeptide-1 and Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, for a firmer, smoother look.
How To Use
  1. Apply to clean, dry skin after your toner.
  2. Spread a thin layer across the face, or press it into rough or textured areas only.
  3. Follow with your moisturiser.
  4. For the first fortnight use it every other evening. After that, nightly if your skin is comfortable.
  5. If you use it in the morning, keep to every other day and always finish with sunscreen. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Routine Placement

Step 1: Oil Cleanser → Step 2: Water-Based Cleanser → Step 3: Exfoliator → Step 4: Toner → Step 5: Essence → Step 6: Serum / Ampoule (This Product) → Step 7: Face Mask → Step 8: Eye Care → Step 9: Moisturiser → Step 10: Suncream (AM)

Skin Type & Concerns

Skin Types: Oily, Combination, Normal, Dry (introduce gradually if sensitive)

Concerns: Rough texture, enlarged-looking pores, dullness, fine lines, early loss of firmness

Layering & Compatibility

Pairs well with: Hydrating and barrier layers — hyaluronic acid, panthenol, ceramides and centella. The formula carries its own barrier blend, and a hydrating layer underneath makes the retinal easier to live with.

Compatible with: Peptides, hyaluronic acid, ceramides, niacinamide and PDRN in the same routine. Bakuchiol is already in the formula, so there is no need to add more.

Avoid using with: Exfoliating acids, a second retinoid, or a strong vitamin C in the same routine. Arencia's own guidance is to keep vitamin C and strong actives out of the same layer — so if you also have the Vitamin C Booster Shot, use that in the morning and this at night.

Layering tip: Dry skin, after toner, before cream. Retinal on damp skin absorbs faster than you want it to, and that is where the stinging comes from.

Pro Tip: Sandwich it if you are new to retinal — a light layer of moisturiser, then this, then moisturiser again. It slows absorption and takes most of the sting out of the first fortnight. SPF every morning while you are using it.
