This isn’t due to ingredient clashes, but because combining multiple resurfacing actives can overwhelm the barrier and increase the risk of irritation, especially for sensitive or breakout-prone skin. Retinoids and strong vitamin C can still be used — simply alternate days rather than layering them on the same night.

Layering tip: After cleansing, use the textured side on areas of congestion such as the T-zone, then sweep the smooth side across the face to refine the overall texture.
